For decades the Deira Fish Market by the creek was where Dubai bought its fish: a busy, noisy hall where boats unloaded their catch and traders sold it by the kilo. In 2017 the traders moved to the Waterfront Market on the Deira corniche, a modern building with separate halls for fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.
Most people still call it the Deira Fish Market. The choice is enormous, from small sardines to whole hamour, and the cleaning counters prepare fish to order. We buy from the same market and suppliers and bring the fish to homes across Deira and the rest of Dubai.
